Japan is a land of contrast, where tradition and modernity exist in every step. It was the first major Asian power to modernize and today it is one of the main economy of the world. Situated on the four main and many smaller islands, Japan is divided into nine regions. The climate of the country is predominantly temperate, but varies greatly from north to south. Visitors can find spa centers all around Japan, however the most famous place is Kusatsu Onsen – hot springs with sulfurous spa waters, believed to have great healing effects againts skin diseases.
